Never had a savings account so this is all new to me. I have a lump sum of around 2k that I'd like to throw in for a while, and then there'll be irregular amounts added to the account from then on. I'd like to be able to transfer funds from the account easily and I won't want to pay a fee for doing so. What's the best…

looks like Anglo Irish is your best bet currently = followed closely by AIB and First Active.

Cheers for that. I was looking at the First Active online one but it doesn't look like I can deposit whenever I feel like it? Or am I wrong?

The First Active esavings account (5.22%) http://www.firstactive.com/savings/online_accounts/index.aspx - deposits can be made whenever you want as far as I can see.
