I am 25 years old and I have 2 years experience working as a Project Support officer,I recently got my Prince2 Practitioner but Funny enough I know next to nothing about IT,and this is hindering me from getting a lot of Jobs.

I am quick learner what advise do you give,I dont want to be an IT specialist but as you all know most projects now are IT based ,so it would be difficult for somebody who doesn't know the difference between a router and a cable to get on board.

I just want to have sufficient level to be an IT project Manager in future, how do I go about accomplishing this. Thanks

Sounds like a civil service title? Anyway not all PM jobs are IT based but most nowadays will have an element of IT in them. I dont think you need to move into a specific IT area as you will pick up the lingo along the way. IMO your best bet is to look for a project co-ordinator role in a business that is not totally IT related. A call centre would be a decent enough start as they are often only a satalite and IT infrastructure is off site. They also regulary transition new business in and out of them so you would be kept busy. Another option is to target an outsourcer as they also regulary transition functions in and out of the business and you have a large support base behind you.

Just to let you know that PMP in my experience is the qualification to have as most the big players would use this as the base line.

    Good luck
