Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Final degree

Hi boards, don’t exactly know what brought this into my mind but can anyone help. I am a 2nd year arts student doing a joint major, just wondering how the final degree would be graded, if for argument’s sake I got all A+ in one subject and all D- in the other subject. This would give be a GPA of 3.1 which is a 2.2 it think, or would I get a first in the strong subject and a pass degree in the weaker one? Would this preclude me from getting into a masters course on the stronger subject.

Taking this a little further if I got enough in the weaker subject to bring the overall GPA up to a 2.1 would I still be able to do a masters in the weaker subject.

Assume I take all electives in the subject streams evenly matched.

Every module, of equal credit value, is equally weighted in degree classification (for 'Arts'). To get a I.I you need to achieve a GPA of 3.68, a II.I is between 3.08 and 3.67, inclusive. Different subjects have different requirements for Masters courses, most require a minimum of a II.I.

Why would you want to take a masters in an area where you're achieving, on average, a D-? I can't see you being accepted for that.

Thanks for the reply econ, it is more or less as i thought I just wondered if you would get a seperate grading per subject.

I wasnt really sugesting that it would be a good idea to do a masters in a subject in which you achieved a D- average even if you were able to get acceptedm I just wanted to understand how the system worked.

    Thanks again for you reply.
