I want to get speakers for my ipod for my front room, so they dont need to be portable. I'm looking for something that looks good and the sound has to be good(it would be helpful if the ipod docked in too. I checked ebay and amazon but just dont know...thanks for any advice!!

I can recommend the Bose Sounddock which is now down to €199 in 02 Dundrum Town Centre and possible the Bose shop also. I t requires a mains lead to operate. It allows docking/charging and has magnificent sound. The new portable version is €299 and i think you can use a non ipod for this version.

What's your budget. Also, Stay away from Bose as they're one of the worst quality (for the price) manufacturers you can find.

stick a griffin itrip on top of it, the signal then can be picked up by your hi fi reciever, you tune it in like a radio, about 30 lids i think

I'd say a cheap pair of speakers for €30 would still get you a better quality sound. I wouldn't settle for radio quality (at best) if it's for your house.

Have a look on amazon and see what the reviews say, and then try and source one when you find one you like. Here's a search for them on amazon.

Say I'm sitting over 10 feet from my docked iPod (i.e. can't see the ipod screen), do any of them offer the capability of changing the artist/song/album without having to get out of my seat? I guess the only way would be to have the menu appearing on the remote?

Mine has a remote control, but I think it may be just for controlling the volume and tracks.

I once heard the Gigaworks T20 and T40 by Creative on demo at PEATS. Impressive for this application i.e budget MP3 / PC. Price OK too.

Have you heard the SoundDock? It's stunning and has consistently been praised by various magazines and websites.
