Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Ubuntu Live CD works everytime!

    Heres a tutorial: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/

    hi

    thanks for the reply.

The pc boots. The only problem is that certain data has been deleted by accident. I was just hoping that there might be a way of scanning the pc and trying to recover the deleted files

    cheers

    Oh, ok...

Lifehacker mention "Undelete Plus" here: http://lifehacker.com/393084/how-to-recover-deleted-files-with-free-software

the ubuntu cd doesn't include photorec
    the knoppix one does ;)

best not to use windows or install any thing as it may overwrite the missing data - this is why you should use a live cd and restore to a different drive

installing a recovery utility may overwrite your data , put the hard drive in as a slave in a different pc that has the app installed on it

or look for a rest2514 , put the files on a usb key and run from there

its great to hear you got the data back. I have found most of the recovery software out there to be a bit hit and miss.
