    just wondering for how many hours i should charge the battery for my aeg? ive heard if you overcharge the battery its really bad for it?? read te manual and theres no guideline with the aeg for how long to charg it.

    Check the capacity on the battery, it'll be rated in mA or mAh (written along the side of each cell), they mean the same. Then check the supply current on your charger (written on a small stick of info, usually on the back of the plug top) divide the supply current of the power supply into the capacity.

    For example.
    1500mA battery
    500mA charger

    1500 / 500 = 3 hours.

    This works for NiCD batteries only, as NiCD requires trickle charging. NiMH batteries will require rapid charging at currents up to 3 times the rating of the battery and requires a rapid-capable charger.

    If you intend to give it a long charge as calculated be certain that the cells of the battery are totaly depleted or you will risk overcharging it is also good practice to help maintain the memory of the battery and prevent irreversible damage to the rated capacity or voltage.
