Stair carpet prices

Roughly (*very* roughly) how much would a decent Curragh carpet cost for the stairs of a standard 3-bed semi? I asked my local shop, who are sending me samples but are coy about prices without measuring, which strikes me as silly. I don't have any idea at all, whether it's €300 or €30,000, never having bought a carpet…
