Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There are 2,500 internationals this year and we also had an influx of 1st years too so I guess that's why it is so crowded. Everywhere is a struggle to get through, it is super busy all the time, even at 9 o clock in the morning!!

The international office is still getting internationals arriving too and most of the internationals didn't arrange with the school that they were coming so that may be the reason classes are sooo huge ad everything lately...

    They've been fixed! :D

They also seem to be in the process of fixing the line markings on the road, which were completely wrong up to a few days ago.

It was marked to use the left lane to take the first exit only, and the right lane for all others, whereas legally you only use the right lane at a roundabout to take the last exit. Would be interesting to see what would happen in the case of an accident.

Road markings come before the general rule. You follow what's on the road, so there wouldn't be a "in case of an accident" problem.

I've noticed queues forming at the print room every time I go there. I assumed people were just able to find it more but I'm guessing with more people there's more chance of luck!

Some of those punk kids at the open day today were likely still in national school when I started college.

    Oh dear. :( :P

The dryer beside mine was empty... It was empty. Mine was literally only finished as you used the washing machine I was using to wash your clothes. It was empty... It was empty for so long, it had even put itself on standby but no. No, you had to go take out my clothes anyways. You have no idea how close I came to becoming very petty and turning off your dryer before running down with a note to tell you why. Oh yes, I came close to becoming passive aggressive. *twitches* I'm too sick for this...

And what is the purpose of the reading week if we have lectures and tutorials during that week?

I presume this is a study week for us before the exams start correct?

Not everyone will have lectures that week. The vast majority won't.

Some lecturers hold revision sessions during the week, these are generally voluntary.

Some lecturers will hold an extra lecture if they haven't covered material, but AFAIK the class has to agree to this or else they can be in hot water with the college. (might be mistaken there, that's just what I was told a few years ago)

Dubstep, Indie and Electro. It's one of the best nights out in Limerick. A bit different to anything else, but class! Definitely something you should try at least once.

Is it not just the presale tickets that are sold out? 70% of the tickets are at the door I heard.

Yeah but "at the door" means going at about eight and standing out in the freezing cold for two hours til doors open. My costume is too much to put together for being ready on time and not half warm enough to be standing around the place :P (which reminds me, I must finish making it...) I'm still trying to figure out if it's worth it when we need 10 or 11 tickets.

If I didn't want to go to a bloody Pumpkin Party before, I certainly don't want to go now after your 500 emails about it among others!!

Susi are a nightmare to deal with. After 2 months of waiting, I got a letter today requesting my holiday earnings( payslips for Easter, Christmas and the Summer time) even thoug I have already provided a P60. I rang them up and he claimed I would have to get them even though I had supplied my P60. These are going to be very annoying to get and seems like a pointless exercise.

How can It take them over 2 months to come to this conclusion?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,799 ✭✭✭onethreefive

Is it by the end of this month that fees have to be paid? I stil havent heard from Susi.. Do I need to pay even if I'm waiting on Susi to contact me.

I'm not sure tbh. I think it's 60 days from the start of the semester so that sounds right.

Not sure what happens if you don't pay on time tho!

Pretty sure it was at the end of September to pay your registration fees if you are waiting on SUSI?

So my housemates all keep getting e-mails from village reception but I never get anything.

Can I email them so they have me on the system or is it better to go in to them?

Probably should ask them especially if you have fees to pay for the accommodation and if you don't pay your fees on time, they can evict you in 7 days plus they have information that you would need to know such as the works on the paths behind the Scully wall and the bus stop beside will be out of order or house inspections coming up next Monday and advised us to have the house cleaned..

I have been receiving letters so I know when to pay but just not emails telling me about house inspections. My housemates always keep me informed so I'll go in to reception tomorrow and ask.

    Thanks though.

That's me! Hiding in the Postgrad area at the moment because I was nearly tearing my hair out yesterday trying to get work done while the people around wouldn't stop talking. Had to leave in the end. I couldn't concentrate and was getting seriously frustrated. The silence in postgraduate is so beautiful!

CTRL+P on the page I think. IIRC you just have to hand it in to the Co-Op office as a proof that you actually did it and so they have your phone number.

What's the story with failing a module? Do you have to repeat it or is it O.K. if your QCA is high enough?

  • Registered Users Posts: 114 ✭✭babynice

If you get a D and your QCA is still above 2.0, it's a compensating fail so you don't have to repeat. But if you get an F you have to repeat no matter what your QCA is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,780 ✭✭✭jamo2oo9

Why do receptions close whenever it pleases them to do so.. I have accommodation fees due today and I'm getting the train at 2:45 and they don't reopen till 2... I have to get the bus as well so what can I do? Can I pay it on Monday as I won't have the time to do it today?
