Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Our house was spotlessly clean except for one bit. The oven and the cooker. The inspector was giving out yards about how disgraceful the place was... He ordered us to buy oven cleaner and clean the mess up.

I'm sorry, but an oven cleaner is 4.49 in Spar. I can't afford that shít just for one occasion.

I'd say once you don't have hundreds in fines you can leave it slide.....I graduated with €23 ish of fines this August. Bold I know!!

Is there anywhere in UL that students can use a projector to practice a presentation?

I'm not living on campus so mine is probably different but our house passed the inspection and there was clothes all over the place and the cooker wasn't cleaned..

I thought they'd just be interested in checking fire alarms and the blinds and all that stuff :P

When the library is busier than ever before, why are there less opening hours than before, rather than more?

Is it not open longer? Opens at 8am, closes at 12 now, rather than opening at 8.30 and closing at 11.

    Not compared to previous years.

Yup, open from seven til 2am for the last few years. Strongly disliking these opening hours. I wonder does their boards account take PMs...

If you tweet them they will definitely reply. I'd imagine though the cost of keeping it open much later is probably quite high. In an ideal world it would be a 24h library. Maybe when the extension is built!

I'm one of those weird people without twitter :o

Possibly, but even so, it's only a few weeks and the most valuable weeks of the year for library use. With the huge amount of people using it during the term too, I don't there's a hope of getting a seat... At least last year, if you went in at about nine or ten, you still have a good few hours before it shut.

If they keep the Main Building open 24/7, would it not make sense to keep the library open 24/7 as well? The library is practically at it's doorstep?

The Main Building requires no staff to keep open 24/7. It's monitored by security at night who would be on campus regardless of whether the Main Building is open or not.

The library would require at least minimal staff to keep it open 24/7. As hard as it is to imagine (and trust me, I'd love to be able to say it isn't the case, particularly as I'm a CSIS student who would given anything to have our building open longer) the college aren't closing when they do just for the sake of it.

Turkuaz is much nicer, better value and cheaper delivery. It is further away admittedly, but worth it.

Nicest pizza to get delivered? At the top of my list would be 4 seasons or White Star. Any other recommendations? Don't say Dominos, PJ or Apaches as I want something other than those brands.

The House Pizza is nice enough and very cheap.

    Seconded.

I used to be a big advocate of Cedar House, but I can't recommend them anymore given their absolutely abhorrent customer service as of late.

Also really like Kashmir Kebabs if your not looking for pizza.

To the person on the first floor of the library who decided to blare their music, if you're gonna play it so loud that the rest of us can hear it you could at least pick something more decent than Taylor Swift -.-

Went for the House pizza. Got a 16" pizza for myself and a friend for E10. It includes chips, a dip of your choice and 2 cans. Really good deal I think

Does anyone know what happened in ERB001 yesterday? We weren't allowed to go in for a class, and there were people outside with walkie talkies, etc.

I was walking down from the Main Building to KBS yesterday morning (I think or it could've been on Thursday morning) and I saw a security car and an ambulance following it on the road to the carpark behind the Foundation Building. I presume someone must've had a bad accident or a serious medical issue.

Why can't they open the library at at least 7am. That would give 2 hours of studying Before lectures start.. And on Sundays they should at least stay open until 9 especially as more people are staying down weekends near the end of the semester.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,780 ✭✭✭jamo2oo9

Is there any food place in UL that is open on campus on Sundays? Kinda pointless going to the library for a couple of hours and you can get something to snack on if nothing is open..

Closest place is probably Plassey Spar

Are they making a cycle path on the left hand side of the avenue as your walking in to UL from the road? That'd be so good!

Yeah, that's the nearest place I can think of that is actually open.

It's gonna be a pedestrian path for both walkers and cyclists. It won't be like the one we have on the right where you have a footpath on one side and a cycling lane on the other.

Hoping they upgrade that footpath soon as it's a mess when it rains. Puddles everywhere and the other day, the leaves blocks the drainage and flooded the entire path sideways and nobody could walk through it unless they wanted wet feet.

The cycle track on the avenue that is there now is horrible. It's so uneven

Yeah, it's worse when I have a tiny hole in the sole of my shoes and everytime I walk into a puddle, my socks are soaked :(

I live past the roundabout so its annoying to walk home and cycling in and out is annoying too so I've started bringing in 2 pairs of socks everyday :pac:

According to the maps on UL, it's called the Avenue Road :P

Are you in Brookfield? Do they not have buses shuttling students between UL and the apartments every so often?

Where's HS building? Is it on the other side of the river or is it beside the Engineering Research Building by the living bridge?

Have mechanics tutorial in HSG031 this evening and if it's on the other side of the river, I'll needn't bother going since I'm in Plassey..

Across the living bridge. It's the building on the right as you come off the bridge. Worth the trip over for the sexy doctors and nurses. ;)

Yeah fúck that. I'm not walking that far for an hour of mechanics. Highly doubt there'll be any sexy doctors and nurses at 6pm :P

Why doesn't the library let you take out more than 5 books? How do they expect anyone to do a Literature Review with only five books, especially when there's no seats for you to do it without taking out books?
Also, why are there a heap of empty shelves but a load of books taking up seats with a sign "no room on shelves"? Those books won't take up much more than a shelf
    Error 404: Logic not found.

I'm actually currently watching three people waiting to pounce on one seat, the poor lad is still putting his stuff away...

That's something that annoys me every time I'm looking for a chair. They've been empty for ages! You could fit tables where the empty shelves are
