Ya Lelouch and Light are similar characters, I personally felt Light was much better written and had a better story to work within, I also found Code Geass to have a lot of annoying secondary characters but that's just my opinion and I'm a cynic, that said Code Geass is definitely worth a watch.

Thanks for the suggestion of Mouryou no Hako I'll check it out

did i mention how much I love abusing this thread. someone mentioned girls und panzer and had to google it. As a bit of a ww2 tank nut I had to watch this series and am quite enjoying it. though it is incredibly bizarre.

I remember reading somewhere about some stuff that was similar to Black Lagoon. El Cazador De La Bruja. Apparently was 1 on the list. Totally was not! It was very slow paced and I had a sneaking suspicion it was probably written by the same author or made by the same company as .Hack// and guess what! Either way I wouldn't suggest it if you don't like slow or less that average paced stuff. Anyone have any suggestions for series very similar to Black Lagoon or Darker Than Black? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Oh ya and anyone thinking of watching those 2 - I'd very highly recommend them.

Baccano, Cowboy Bebop, Gantz, Ghost in the Shell, Heat Guy J, Golgo 13, Space Adventure Cobra and like the guy above you said, Gungrave.

If you don't mind Swordfights instead of Guns, I'd throw in Berserk, Kurozuka, Bastard, Devil May Cry, Claymore, Guin Saga, Highlander the Movie, First Squad, Ninja Scroll Movie (Skip the Series, it's Garbage) and Shigurui.

Not into mecha stuff tbh. Alfred Elric is about as mecha as I'll go. Seen Baccano, Bebop, Gits - just the 1st 2 films, will watch the series soon, have gantz but only watched the 1st episode. I've heard Berserk is a bit mad so I might check it out soon hehe. I'll wiki some and check out the others on AniDb etc, cheers for the list.

Mad? Berserk is Tame compared to Kurozuka and Shigurui. Those 2 is as Brutal as you can get in an Anime.

You should also check the 2 Vampire Hunter D Movies. I can't believe I forgot to list them.

Was wondering what you were all going on about Shingenki No Kyojin for and then googled it as Attack on Titan, yeah it does look good.

Almost done with the first season of A Certain Magical Index, good show but nothing spectacular.

My lil nine year old bro came up to me about that yesterday, called it 'that old Astro Boy cartoon' haha.
That show was pretty damn cool if I recall correctly, very fluid animation and true to Tezuka's designs. Might see if I can record some eps for myself.

Haven't watched Brotherhood yet, but I really love the Original Series. Probably got the best OST of any Anime I've watched.

Since you like Trigun, I think you might also like Irresponsible Captain Tylor too. Though both Animes seem s to be very dissimilar at first glance, one being Futuristic Western while the other is Space Opera, they are actually Kindred Spirits.

Most of it having to do with their Leads. Like Vash Stampede, Tylor seems to Win his Battles through Amazing Luck that borders on the Unbelievable.

Give the Anime a try, you might enjoy it.

Just watched the first four episodes of "Attack on Titan", and by gawd I want to see more of it! Great story so far, if a bit not quite straight forward

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,400 ✭✭✭Dartz

    Evangelion:
    Trans: WTF Just happened

    Rebuild:
Trans" Oh God, what just happened, it looked awesome.

    Rebuild of Evangelion, 3.33
Looks amazing, but goes from awesome to WTF in 3.33 seconds, then right back around again.

If the original was written on depression meds, this thing's on anti-psychotics.

My mate who has read the manga says they're throwing some things in there that aren't supposed to happen until much later.

I sincerely hope they're not trying to cram the manga (10 volumes so far) into a 26 episode season.

As for episode 4: Holy ****balls, talk about a cliff-hanger.

I also have Angel Beats ready to watch, but where will I find the time :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 591 ✭✭✭Sieghardt

Watching so much stuff right now, the new season is really great

Attack on Titan and Gargantia on the Verdurous planet are really interesting epic shows

The Devil is a Part Timer is quite funny too, Satan working in McDonalds, it really reminds me of the Disgaea games, that kind of humour.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

I give up, tomorrow I'm starting the manga of Attack on Titan, can't wait a week every time.

    Damn cliffhangers.

Just started watching Aku no Hana... THIS IS GREAT! In love with the ed. Everyone seems to be against the animation but I like it, it's kinda creepy and really suits the atmosphere of the anime.

Oh that one, i tend to stay away from anime with low ratings on cruncyroll however i may just give it a try. Opinions vary after all, what's it all about?

Well I'm only 2 episodes in but I've read the manga so I'm assuming they'll be the same. It's about a junior high student who has a crush on a girl in his class. He ends up stealing her p.e. uniform... but this really creepy girl in the class sees him and decides to blackmail him. The animation is semi-realistic. Lots of people tend to either love or hate it. If you're into creepy, physiological anime then I think you should watch it. Or read the manga.

Just to let people know a new streaming site launched yesterday. Daisuki was setup by a group of 7 anime production companies so should hopefully avoid a lot of the licensing minefield streaming sites encounter, not much up right now (only Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Prince of Tennis, Lupin the 3rd, Gundam Suit Z, Gundam SEED Remaster) and One Piece (subbed version, not 4Kids "Hey lets ruin this show completely" dub) is coming soon. Everything is free (but talk of a sub system coming later), just a 30 second ad before each vid, framerate was a bit choppy but Im on an iffy 8Mb line so every stream is similar.

Started watching Madoka Magica, man that first episode has some trippy stuff in it.
