    True.

It's very jarring when it's like High School of the Dead.

Mind you Fairy Tale's fanservice is okay, and so's freezing.

Although, one character is always swims naked...

    The World God Only Knows.

Watched the first two seasons about 2/3 years ago. It was quite funny but nothing really special. So much so that I was going to skip season 3. I am glad I didn't. The 3rd season really makes it. I liked it so much that I am now reading the manga!

I felt the complete opposite. I loved the manga initially but I felt it really fell of in terms of quality around halfway through the goddess arc

Some parts of that arc did seem a bit messy especially after watching the anime first.

I am mainly reading the manga to find out what happened after the Goddesses Arc (and to fill in some of the skipped bits) but he has changed direction and it will be awhile before he get backs to what I am looking for.

The current arc isn't great but it does add to the story and there are moments...

    High School of the Dead

That was hilarious! It was so outrageous! Those bullet dodging scenes!

A bit of shame really, as I liked the story. Perhaps, I'll pick up the manga.

High school of the dead was amazing,

Samurai Champloo, my all time favourite.
Downloaded it again for a rewatch.

I actually don't mind the fanservice in HSotD because it's so OTT and the show itself is very tongue-in-cheek, so it's not like I take the show seriously at all. What especially annoys me about fanservice is when it's in a serious show and it sorta breaks the immersion in the story, and that's always a bad thing.

    Gantz really annoyed me.
I kept shouting at all the characters cause they were so unlikeable.
Maybe I shouldn't have had that bottle of vodka before watching it :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,944 ✭✭✭✭Links234

I'm only 4 episodes in, but yeah, unlikeable for definite so far. I didn't have any illusions of it being deep and amazing, just a sci-fi action gore brutal mess :p sometimes I like that in a show. ;)

    showing herself Jin-Roh :D

I haven't watched it yet but I hear the anime is dreadful in comparison to the visual novel!

    Re: Gantz

The anime stops right as the manga starts getting really good (volumes 10-24 or so are brilliant.) Shame the series ended so badly.

It's great how they mix humor, action and emotions.

The most non spoilery humour scene that I can think of would be
the one where Ezra said they could take a bath together. 'What sort of relationship do ye have?'
    :D

I watch subbed. I love the Japanese accent, and especially when English words are pronounced. :P

I think all that subs are released so far. I'm on episode 126, so there's a good bit left.

And it's on, hopefully temporary, hiatus for a bit.

Well after initially turning off Log Horizon after a few minutes ( and re-watching Sword Art Online as if I had cheated on it..) I randomly threw it on last night and watched it up to the latest episode. Overall not that bad, but when compared to SAO people seem to have gotten acclimatized to being in a game at an amazingly fast rate :)

Finally watched Ponyo! What a cute movie.
I also gave up watching "Monster" the series. The length of the show didn't bother me but the pace of it did. It just wasn't interesting. A bit drawn out.

I'm reading A Bride's Story. I like it so far. It's a very "gentle" story, if you know what I mean, and the art style reminds me of a refined CLAMP.

I randomly picked up Log Horizon too. Haven't watched SAO (yet), so can't compare the two. The constant MMO explanation is a bit annoying and I am surprised there is no in game support :D Still it's alright and the plot is picking up now...

Must remember to buy an appearance change potion the next time I log into my MMO!

I watched Children Who Chase Lost Voices, or Journey to Agartha as it's known in the UK apparently

Great movie, but very derivative of Miyazaki. I know it's meant to be a homage, but I felt myself playing a game where I was trying to spot all the visual references to Miyazaki's work as it went on, like there's homage and then there's just obsession... Still, really loved it, but felt it was actually getting bogged down with all the ghibli love-in

Saw that in the lighthouse, when Makoto Shinkai visited to talk before it. Ignore the ghibli stuff, it's amazing film in it's own right.

We got giant posters handed to us at it, the cover of the DVD, they are great.

This pic as a poster without all the crap:

One of my cats had a vendetta against my one though.

It's like what FMA: Brotherhood is to the first FMA series

Oh it is good, but it felt too much like "Shinkai does Ghibli" for me to ignore

Myself and herself are watching Death Note now ;) so far she loves it! :D
