Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Haven't heard it, but tbh VRT for bikes is a very small amount.

400 euro - not small to me alas.

But small in the grand scheme of things... compared to buying in Ireland, the saving is still huge.

Agreed - as is the case with cars.

Small? I paid 1200 euro VRT in June - imported a new 850cc bike.

I doubt there'll be tax cuts anywhere this budget - the economy's fooked.
I would like to see a drop, especially in the smaller bikes for those starting off. It's 2 euro per cc for the first 350ccs, and a euro a cc over that. So there's 500 euro VRT on a 250 bike.

IMHO, it'd be better the other way around - low or no VRT for anything up to 125 or 250 and, if needs be, more for bigger bikes. It'd keep the Green hippies happy too.

Given the current economic climate dont expect VRT on bikes to be binned anytime soon! :(

I'd love to meet the person who starts ridiculous rumours like this, and give them a good smack upside the head :)

There already was a cut in bike VRT when the euro came in - it used to be £2 and £1 per cc instead of €2/€1.

If you can afford the insurance and the gear you can definitely afford the VRT.

VRT on secondhand imports is a very good deal, plenty of bargains to be had in the UK and further afield. Compared to the shenanigans with valuing secondhand cars for VRT purposes, we are waay better off.

    Scrap the cap!

That's not much considering cages are easily paying 3-4 times that amount.

too right - I paid 3k VRT for a 14yr old car with 143k miles on it, in March.

For the money, I could have had a COUPLE of ****-hot bikes. And, they'd take up an awful lot less space.........!!

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
