Tax on fags gone up 50%. Anyone know how this translates into real numbers? :(

Not official, but just did a search and the excise duty on cigs in Ireland is 60% of the cost of a pack.

So, on 7.50 a pack, that means that the excise duty is 4.50.

And if excise duty is to go up by 50%, then that means that fags are going up c. 2.25 a pack.

I'm sure he said that excise duty was going up by 50% and not 50 cent.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,960 ✭✭✭DarkJager

Thats why those greedy ****ing petrol stations didn't drop the prices, they knew this ****wit would hike them up again in the budget.

So far all I'm seeing is pensioners and dole spongers being looked after, while everyone else gets ****ed.

**** carbon footprints, I'd be more concerned about my finances than the ****in environment at this stage.

He keeps saying he's looking after the vulnerable. He really means he's looking after the people that contribute **** all to this country.
