    FACT 1
It takes the tower crane driver (the one on the 2nd bridge) 25mins to climb up to the cab of his crane everyday.

During the Siege of Waterford, the anti-treatyites took base in many buildings that are stiil there today, while the pro-treatyites fired from a fiel artilleray gun into the city. From Mount Miseryt they fired into the city, shelling the GPO,the prison, the little sisters of the poor etc. They eventually took the city and one of the last strongholds that was taken was Reginalds Tower. The Anti-Treatyites left a little surprise in the Tower though after it was taken, enough explosives to blow the place to bits. Luckily for the Tower, and us today, the explosives failed to go off....but Reginald's Tower was within a hair's breath of not being there today. Those interested in this kind of thing can still see all the marks from the siege on the GPO today

Funny story about this. I was on a voice chat program a few years back and I popped into a room and heard a bunch of people, who I assumed to be from Waterford. They were infact from St. Johns in Newfoundland. A hundred years or so ago, a bunch of fishermen went over and made an impact there. Today tricolours and waterford flags can be seen throughout St. Johns.

    :)
