I think porn is like the ocean, most of the time all we see is the waves at the top - the crass, bleached hair female, waxed man stuff. Page 3, but with sound and movement. Juvenile. And, there's nothing there that I want. Nothing that resembles my experiences of sex, and nothing even close to my fantasies. I'm going to wave the Big Stick of Generalisation, but i think that that type of porn is created for an audience of adolescent boys.
Ah now, anyone who thinks real sex is like the pornos is in for a shock. A bit like taking relationship advice out of Eastenders.

So, I'm a little turned off the whole notion of porn because of the crap that has floated to the top of the Big Ocean of Porn. Maybe one day I'll seek out the alternatives, and look a little deeper, but for now, meh, it ain't for me. Tbh, the blank faces, the faked 'ooohs' and the cringey 'do it to me, big boy' is a turn off for me.
I agree, mainstream porn is boring, predictable and lame but you seem to just be talking about all the mainstream stuff.
There is a wide variety of porn out there. Something for everyone.

What disturbs me about it is the expectations it creates among men and women. There's more to sex, and expressing love and affection, than the orgasm. Tbh, the female Porn Orgasm is something completely alien to me. The angles of penetration in porn are designed for the camera - not for the participants' pleasure.
I know noone who bases their thoughts on love and sexuality on porno. If I ever did know anyone like that, I'd be extremely worried for them.
Porn is about sexual release. Relationships are about love and affection.

Reading threads in After Hours the expectations seem to be that women will be hairless, are vocal gymnasts in bed and that threesomes are a norm. That man are rock hard, etc. Yes, i know that's largely juvenile postering by inexperience keyboard lovers - but, it feels indicative of something.
Can you link to any of these threads? I havn't seen them.

Then there's the 'porn for women' jokes, like the series of photos of men hoovering, washing dishes, putting out the bins. Again - nothing like my fantasies. It buys into the myth that women don't really like sex at all, that it's something we do to keep the men folk happy.
Ah come on now, Porn4women is a joke. It's not meant to be taken a bit seriosuly. I can't imagine women being driven into a sexual frenzy by a guy who stops to ask for directions. Maybe that's just me though.

So, in summation, my problem isn't with the concept of porn - it's with the large percent of it that's crap.

Agreed. Same with music, movies and sport.

I think i've been so turned off by the mainstream stuff that I couldn't be bothered digging deeper - and, by it being the mainstream it is what the majority of people will experience when it comes to porn.

As to delving into the mess of After Hours to find those threads...that's a prospect that i find even less appealing than the bleached blonde faked porno orgasms.

Hmmm, maybe one of my new year resolutions should be to expand my horizons a little in the porno-sphere...

    Horribly off-topic BUT:

I was lost in Kilmallock once(Don't ask). I'd never been there before and was late for an appointment.

I saw a guy on the road and stopped him to ask for directions(I was in my car). when I initially saw him i thought 'person to ask for directions'

when I rolled down the window and actually looked at said man I realised he was fcukin gorgeous. Cue me getting completely flustered and distracted and basically not listening to a word he said.

In a porno, (of the banal variety, as it was a Peugout 407 and we were in Kilmallock;) he would have lunged at me thru the window, tore off my business suit and ravaged me.....NOICE:D

In reality, I drove off, realised I still didn't have a clue where I was going and ended up causing consternation by going down a one way street in the opposite direction:rolleyes:

I can see your point but still think it;s unfair to write off porn as a whole due to this.
I could understand someone being turned off punk if their first experience was with some pop band with spiky hairs and manafactured attitude. I still would encourage them to look into alternative punk before writing it off as a whole.

Imagine Porn as being like Ice cream, not liking plain vanilla and dismissing ice cream altogether as not your thing just because one flavor didn't tickle your fancy, is a lot like declaring porn as not being your thing based on the mainstream "vanilla" stuff. There's wide variety of flavors out there !

    Mmmmmmm... Ice cream...
