Eligible for Redundancy?

Hi everyone,

Could someone answer a quick question for me?

I'm being let go from work in 2 weeks, (got my notice 2 weeks ago), been here 2.5 years, on a fixed term contract.

Does the fact that i'm here over 2 years mean im entitled to some kind of redundancy? i know it'll be pittance, but seeing as i cant get any other work it'll be a tight few months ahead.

I'd prefer to have at least a clue about it before i ask HR about it, so if anyone knows, a quick reply would be appreciated.

I *think* you are entitled to redundancy as you have been working for more than 104 weeks:

the fact that you are on a contract might change things. But, see Page 14 of the following guide on Irish redundancy laws:

yeah you're entitled to something, even if it's just a months' pay.I'm in the construction industry, know a lot of people getting laid off (technical - engineers,QS etc) and they usualy get a lump sum.A severance package.

The statutory redundancy payment is a lump-sum payment based on the pay of the employee. All eligible employees are entitled to:

* Two weeks' pay (subject to a maximum of €600 per week or €31,200 per year) for every year of service, regardless of age, and
* One further week's pay

sorry, rather then starting a new thread, i thought i might jsut ask here.

i work for a govenerment agency and we have had the redundancy talk.

I have worked here for 3 years and my contract is indefinately but subject to funding.

Would i be entitled to redundancy with the "subject to funding" clause ?

Unless I am very much mistaken the op gets nothing when a fixed term contract ends...
