Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions....

I'm a big fan of Hayao Miyazaki's movies and I'm looking to find similar films as I've watched all these to death. I'm looking for movies that look good (as in the animation) and also havn't got a "very" adult story line. Don't get me wrong, I love the violence of Akira and Ninja Scroll but I'm looking for something thats a little less bloody, a bit more colourful and has less animated nipples :D

Millenium Actress is stunning if you are in the mood for an innocent, enjoyable and touching little film. Tokyo Godfathers too. Paprika is fantastic as well, isn't quite as innocent as the other two, but has some of the most amazing imagery outside of Ghibli. Satoshi Kon is probably my favourite anime director outside of Miyazaki, but if innocent is what you are looking for avoid Perfect Blue and Paranoia Agent.

Shinkai is also a great up and coming anime director whose films are more thoughtful and sedate than most. The Place Promised in Our Early Days is really good, although his 25 minute short feature Voices of a Distant Stars is stunning, well worth a watch. His latest movie 5 centimetres per second is meant to be superb too, haven't got around to seeing it yet though.

And of course all the other Ghibli stuff, if you haven't got around to them!

Hmm, very hard to make a suggestion here. Miyazaki is unique, so unless you've not checked out some of the films of Isao Takahata, I don't quite know what to suggest.

Steamboy is quite good, well worth a look, and the animation is astonishing, but not quite comparable to Miyazaki.

Be sure to watch all the other Ghibli films as well if you haven't. There's around 12 of them.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is a good one... as is Memories.

I'll try and think of more later.

Check out Grave of the Fireflies too. It's pretty harrowing, but a top quality film nonetheless.
It is "adult" though. Not that it's bloody or explicit or anything; just that the themes at play are quite mature.

I enjoyed Metropolis, I'd recommend it.

Cheers everyone, I actually have some of the films you've mentioned above buried away somewhere so I must dig them out and watch them! Thanks again for the recommendations!

You should check out the Urotsukidoji series of movies.Far better than any of the Ghibli movies or if you like something abit lighter there's always Akira.Dn't let the kids see the first one though if ya get it, strictly for aduls only...

Yep. My Neighbour Totoro would have worked much better if there had been tentacle rape in it.

    This little beauty, Tekkon Kinkreet:

Haven't met many people who know it, its visually stunning, with a story that's weird at first, but is really touching in the end.

I should probably give Tekkon Kinkreet another go sometime... I just really couldn't get into it.

It's looks great, but I found it to be very dull over all.

The cut of Urotskgosomethingorother I saw was awful, not a patch on anything Ghibli and in no way similiar either. Admittedly I saw the hilariously bad Manga dubbing version (swearing is cool!) but yeah wouldn't really consider it innocent ;)

It is I suppose some what of an aquired taste...lol.
Agree that isn't up to the standard of ghibli but I have a soft spot for it(not in a sick way), was never into the porn aspect of it but love the transition of the whole series from the destruction of the world(the first 2 movies), through how the world changes in the midst of the destruction and the inevitable rebirth of a new era and world.
Haven't seen much good new Manga lately though, the last stuff I saw that I thught was half way decent was Hellsing.
