I have to say, I have no problem with people leaving for 30min to get food, bathroom, etc but wtf is with going to lectures and leaving your stuff there. Today I need to study for 2hrs and I have noticed that people leave their stuff on a desk for far longer without returning!

When I get a desk and need to leave it for a few min to do something, I leave a note saying the time I left and how long I'll be, if I'm not back by then, then anyone is free to move my stuff, but this attitude of leaving stuff for hours and not returning drives me crazy, you do not own the desk, you have not rented it! Dont waste everyones time cause its not fair!

And now I can fully undertsand why you'd be frustrated. At 10.00, girl comes in and places laptop down, plugs in and walks off. At 13.05, she returns!!!

Lucky it didn't affect me, but quite a joke too.

The fact that their closing the 2nd and 3rd Year labs on Monday until the exams end instead of waiting until the exams are over like a semi-intelligent school would...

    Yeah that's just stupid.

Can I bitch about the fact that I was too tired to get up this morning and then the girlfriend couldn't find the desk to get Aaron Eckhart tickets?

Also multiple take home exams been scheduled within 2 days of each other

Found out their turning the Second year Computer Science Lab into a lecture lab.
So if there is a lecture on and your not part of it you have to clear out.

That's fecking ridiculous, how are we supposed to work on projects etc if they take the lab away from us?!
I mean I'm generally in here 6+ hours a day...

  • Registered Users Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

At least in second year most of your lectures are on at the same time. When you're in fourth year and there's about 4-5 subjects that you don't do, and these are all on in your lecture room/"lab" (and the only place you can really go is the first year lab, which is full of first years, or the library, which is full of the rest of the college), then it gets incredibly annoying. I think part of the reason they made laptops compulsory this year was so they could completely **** people over like this.

In previous years, I did most of my work in the labs, despite having had a laptop for all my years in CS. Now, in 4th year, I'm doing most of my work at home - in my comfortable chair, with my coffee machine 5m away, and haven't bothered getting a swipe card yet.

Yeah but its gonna be a pain.
For example today I have three hours between my lectures that I need to use the lab for to get my datastructures assignment finished for.
I wont get a seat in the library at this time as im sure it will be full of desks with people **** spread all over it...

Also, they're closing the labs for the duration of the study period (already been said I know but I need a rant) no wonder the CSI dept has no reputation anymore....

Agreed. I think the school is run by special people...

Mine knocked off when I came back from the SU shop to get a drink, wireless was still connected and was getting a valid ip and all, bit weird.

Restarted my browser though and it was fine.

Bitch: Librocop giving out to me on the way back into the library when I was using my phone on the way out of the library... As in placed it to my ear as I was going through the swipe machine and wasn't talking. Not cool.

I have 3000 words done of the 18000 due between tomorrow and next Thursday. I asked for an extension on one of my essays due next Tuesday (to Thursday) but was refused on the basis that too many deadlines isn't an extenuating circumstance. Mbleh... Though that kinda angered me to the point where I think I'll work extra hard to spite them, even if that will invalidate my basis for needing extra time (I neither want, nor need to be finished all my work for this semester on the 4th of December, and 6 deadlines in 6 days is just 6illy.)

I hate how the English department set all their assignments for the one week. 9,000 words this week, nine funking thousand!!
We have other assignments due in too y'know!!!:(

Also, the crappy pavements on the grounds of UCD. Every single day, without fail, I see someone hop themselves (or hop myself) over the stupid poxy pavements, why are they all sticking up outta the ground? Grrrrrr...

Also, outside (again) why is it I feel the need to grow fins everytime it rains. Drains, anybody??

    Ooooooh... *explodes*

Now, back to the 9,000 word bullsh!t!*

..before the hack types begin the ''you should have started your essays sooner'' rant, I handed in 5,500 words last week! So... shush!!

Well, you get points for not saying "you should of", something that drives me barmy. Now spare a thought for those of us who aren't burdened with essays, but are instead facing exams that count for 80-100% on every course we are doing. A "bad day" is not an option, and I carry two of everything except brain.

You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
    Wherever you happen to be
    They bring it to you—free.

Try 19,000 in a week...yeah..thankfully I got an extension in one for sheer ridiculousness amount of work!

Also yay for the l&h having Eckhart tickets left and giving me one. Please disregard previous rant about them.

I feel your pain, 2 seminars in one semester seemed like a good idea at the time, now i feel like hunting down Heaney and digging his pen right up his arse.
The glory will be all ours on Thursday though, i think i'll bring a bottle of whiskey into the library and sit there drinking it in reflection.

Anyone else getting a bit pissed off seeing that guy with the grey jumper and the glasses in the ucd homepage everytime you go to the ucd website to login or is that just me? I recognise him from the science building the last couple of years, think he finished last year. His facial expressions are too happy for exam time.

Also, just had a cup of coffee to try and revive myself to do a sample exam answer and it hasnt kicked in yet...dammit! I starting to lose my enthusiasm for college now, sick of studying bull****. is that even how you spell enthusiasm....my minds gone!
