    Hello,
I'm going to put up a shed, I have a dug out a base and am wondering what sort of stone I should put in as a sub-base. There will be 5" of concrete going on top of this..

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    Timber shed?
Assuming it is, afew wheelbarrow loads of 2' stone, vibrated mechanically in 150mm to 225mm layer. Hire a petrol whacker. Finish with 50mm thick layer of sand, 1000guage damp-proof-membrane and 100 - 150mm concrete.
The dpm will prevent rising damp into the base or floor, particularly important if conc base will be floor of shed. Dpm will help prevent bike tyres rotting, tins rusting etc :)

    Hi RKQ,
It will be a steel shed, you reckon 2" stone would be fine?
    Thanks..

    2" stone will be fine.

Use this to help work out the amount required

2" screenings to dust might also work, if well whacked.
    Good luck
