My boss busted an employee researching car parts on the internet and now suspects that all staff are using too much company time on private emails. As a result our IT Manager has blocked all internet access. I am sure every company has the odd eedjut who pushes his luck and abuses the system, but we have a bunch of good…

We block webmail for everybody (cos somebody pulled the network off the air once with a dodge mail off hotmail) and then restrict what the different managers want their guys not to have in each dept- bebo/forums/games etc. We also have machines in the canteen for people to use on breaks that are on a dmz with their own little squid proxy which allows pretty much everything except porn.
