Mainly consists of Rhianna, TI etc etc. im a average joe who basically will listen to everything thats in the charts. i usually go to itunes to see the top 100 and sample the song.. but im finding at the mo that all the songs on it is just crap that iv overplayed myself...What are the big up and coming songs at the mo?

Please help it stresses me out listening to the same dam songs and when im in no mood to flick through my ipod and just start a playlist i get bored quick!!!!

Check out Yeasayer, Fleet Foxes, Tv on the Radio, Bon Iver, Mogwai, Steinksi. Just some of the stuff I've been listening to lately....:)

Perhaps you should try listening to something other than chart music? I find that pretty much all pop music follows the same patterns and formulaes, so it's very easy to get bored listening to it as there's very little variance. I'm not going to try and suggest anything as I don't really know what you'll like, but maybe try get some jazz or blues or some classical. You're asking for upcoming songs, but perhaps looking at some classic albums might help if you're bored of the chart stuff?

I'd agree with what Mr Hungus says there. I found meself that, when i were a lad, if i heard a song that was a cover of something or contained a sample of something, I'd go and track down the original band just to see what they were like.

F'r'instance, the recent Kid Rock thingy could perhaps inspire you to track down stuff by Warren Zevon. Or to go back to my own case, first time I heard 'Dub Be Good 2 Me' by Beats International, i heard the DJ mention it had a sample from Guns of Brixton by The Clash, so i went and had a listen to them.

It's a relatively painless way of opening up your ears and mind. I likes me blues and soul stuff meself, but it can be a bit daunting to just jump straight into a new genre like that. Using the charts as a springboard for tracking down older stuff might be interesting.

hey cheers guys for the replies. been listening to alot of Boyce avenue, there a small youtube group who do covers of alot of popular music. I like all music so im open to suggestions. I like anything that sounds good. But who would be the top blues, classical artist/songs, I just wanna sample some of the music first. when you say classical do you mean Andrea Bocelli classical or what?

You know, there was a great thread on here not so long ago, Recommend an Artist most people haven't heard of. You could have a browse through that and find some very interesting music alright.

I'm going to throw a few videos here, and see what you think of them, ok? Let me know what you think, and I'll try and recommend more.
