If it's not Irish people stealing our jobs with your lower corporate tax rates, now an Irish-based organisation is trying to manipulate the US election!

    Well, not really.

But it is an interesting link.

Basically the only Irish connection is that Intrade was started up in Ireland and the CEO is named Delaney. However, apparently it involves a system of 'betting' on almost anything under the sun, including politics. Except instead of using stated odds like a bookie, it's more of a stock market. It seems that someone has been deliberately trying to inflate McCain's 'stock.'

Only problem is nobody seems to be entirely sure how this helps anyone. Maybe he's short-selling? The article leaves me confused.

Intrade is just a predictions market, borderline gambling. While it is average joe (maybe even plumbers) that buy/sell the stock the outcomes tend for the most part refelect the outcome.

Not sure about that story though as McCains stock has been plummeting in the last 30 days and he isn't even close to Obama on Intrade.
