What lens should i buy ????????????

Was wondering if it would be worth my while buying another lense with a greater zoom as there will be a lot of shots from far away. And the 15-55mm…

Hi

Was wondering if it would be worth my while buying another lense with a greater zoom as there will be a lot of shots from far away. And the 15-55mm lens seems to be for closer pic's.

If yes, what lens would you recommend.
And what price would i be looking at paying.

I'm heading to Africa myself and have been looking around for the best all in one lens to bring. I've narrowed it down to these three:

Canon 18-200mm

Sigma 18-200mm

or the Tamron 18-270mm

All three have image stabilisation. I think I might go for the Tamron 18-270mm. It's obvioulsy the winner in the reach category, but it's only just been released so there aren't any reviews of it yet. So I'm waiting a while before I buy...

It'd be cheaper to buy something in the 55-200/70-200mm range if switching lenses is a viable option. Sigma do a pretty decent 70-300mm for relatively cheap. A decent zoom is your next port of call.

what i'm planning on brining is a 50mm1.8 and one of the above lenses I mentioned there. the less lenses & camera equipment brought on tough trips to tough countries the better off you'll be. you'll have less things to worry about. my 40d is too much to bring to africa, i should really be bringing just a point and shoot, but i want my slr with me. you never know what you'll come across and a p&s may not be able to capture it the way you want it.

And buy one 200mm for zoom?
