Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My daughter (4.5) fell today and took a lump out of her lower left 1.

How serious is this - is it a job for the dentist or should she just ride it out until the milk teeth are dispensed?

Are milk teeth loaded with nerves? Is there a chance that this will cause her problems before the adult teeth arrive?

    hi there,

Firstly is your daughter in pain?, if not and the tooth is not sharp she should be fine. The lower front teeth tend to be the first baby teeth to fall out, so in a year it will be gone. Don't worry, no damage will be done to adult tooth underneath. They do have nerves but they are not as well developed as adult teeth and the root of this tooth has already started to resorb (soften) as the adult tooth underneath grows. You may see some colour change over the next few weeks but if there is no pain just let nature take its course. If you want piece of mind bring her to local HB clinic or your own dentist.

Hi davo10, thanks for the response.

No she's not in pain, she's biting as normal and doesn't seem to have a problem with hot or cold liquids/foods. I'll keep an eye out for the discolouration. My main cause of concern was the possibility of infection in the future - similar to leaving a cavity untreated in an adult tooth. I'd a nasty experience because of that myself, hence my concern.

Once again, many thanks for your response.
