I bought this on release day, really enjoying it so far! Most fun i've had with a game in a good while, it's so over the top and crazy.

There's an absolute shed load of things to do in the game (about 25 different groups of activities on top of all the story missions, strongholds & territories to take over)

It's not as polished as GTA IV but it is WAY more enjoyable in my view, the level of customisation on offer for your character/cars/homies is really good.

All in all, i'd say to get everything done in the game you're looking at 60 hours plus

    Highly recommended!

Anyone got it? what do you think?

Played the first few missions over the weekend. I agree, its really good fun, and doesn't take itself too seriously. Lots of laughs too (
like the early raid on the Ronin's casino - your lieutenant starts explaining a really complicated plan he has come up with to steal the money from the casino, and your character says "I have a better idea.. why don't we just go in there and shoot ever muthaf**ka in the place?"
) ... definitely a fun game, and dare I say it, better than GTA4.

I have to agree, its definitely better than GTA 4 in my book. I'm loving the story so far, just after
destroying the Sons Of Samedi - the death of Mr Sunshine was one of the funniest things I've seen in any game
. The humour is just right, had me laughing out loud in a couple of places, and for once the character you play as is a tough nut when provoked, unlike Niko Bellic who seemed to just take abuse without a single retort :)

The driving kind of worried me when I first started, but when you realise that this game is all about fun, it starts to feel right. No real world physics here, just a driving system that makes chases from the cops or gangs all that more frantic and fun to do. I've just started on the Ronin, and the missions in this game put anything in GTA4 to shame.

    Example:
The sons of samedi mission "Bad Trip". You get drugged up and almost killed, and then have to make your way across the city while being extremely stoned, straight into a massive gunfight - loved every single second of it!

The gang customisation & the hideout are also cool features. There's nothing like seeing your gang dressed as ninjas, engaged in a shoot out with the cops :D

Overall I'm very impressed by it. It does all the things GTA 4 failed to do (base jumping, planes etc), the activities are also quite amusing (fight club anyone?) and its just a great blast to play. I've only rented it for a week, but it has definitely earned itself a place on my "must buy" list.

was a fan of the first one and not really impressed by gta4. 2 seems to have polished allot of the rough edges from the first one which for me is all i wanted cause the first was a fun game. Online seems to be having problems setting up matchs at the moment but then its nearly 4 in the morning might not be allot of people on it.

This is surprisingly getting really really good reviews everywhere and has a metacritic score of 82. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

I didn't like the first saints row, it just didn't feel right for some reason. I'm still tempted by this though, I think I might pick up the PC version. Is that out now, or is it the usual several months delay after a console release?

Same here (with the not liking saints row). E-Thuggery has no appeal to me. So i guess i'll be ignoring this one.

How long does your destruction persist for? I hated in GTA when I would rocket launch everything in sight, go around the corner and come back to find everything cleaned up like nothing had happened!

    It doesn't really...although
one mission has you destroy a neighbourhood full of drug labs resulting in a massive fire....the fire is still burning 10 missions down the line and all over the news :D
    .

I've been seeing cars pop out of view while I was looking at them, never mind having to go around the corner.

The quality of the game is poor all round. Controls, car-handling especially, physics, AI, graphics are all dodgy. I can't believe people are saying it's better than GTA 4, it really doesn't stand up to it in any area apart from quantity of content.

It's not awful mind you, it's hard not to have fun in any open city game and there's an absolute ton of sidemissions. But it's not in the same class as GTA.

I see nothing majorly wrong with the camera at all. Can you explain why you think it's dreadful?

Yeah, I'm not really impressed with it at all. Gonna trade it in on Friday to get Dead Space instead.

Got this game for christmas and i have to say i love it. GTA 4 sits beside my ps3 unfinished and I have no desire to go back to it either, while im itching to play this all the time.

Its not as polished as GTA4 thats for sure, graphics and cars dissapearing when you turn around are examples of this. But it absolutely murders it in the fun factor. The characters are funny and likable, missions are nice and varied.

The extra events are great fun though, my personal fave being insurance fraud.

When i was in game last it was €26 on the PS3, you would be stone wall mad not to get it at this price.

I got it there last week, would have to echo the sentiments of the op, a far more fun and enjoyable game than GTA4 despite the fact that GTA4 graphics and aspects of gameplay are far superior. The game took a lot from San Andreas and went in the right direction from there.

The characters and missions are stronger in SR than GTA and there is more to do. Fight Club is an excellent feature.

Have it half completed now with the sons of samedi and the brotherhood taken out.

Would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the GTA series before GTA4 lost its soul.

Draw distance is really bad, if you see a car you might like to rob and move the camera away, you'll look back and its gone. Theres that, and a couple of big missions left me with a black screen of death. Had to do them again.

Aside from that, the game is great, way more fun than GTA4. I got it for 40 notes too, which was nice.
