Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I was listening to Talksport on Friday night and it sounded like they were doing an OB, as you could hear the encoding. I thought maybe they were coming live from some presidential debate in the USA. No mention of that. Then I thought maybe the presenter was broadcasting live from his own house, not unheard of in the UK. Nope.

    Didn't think anymore of it until today, when I heard there was a fire at Talksport HQ on Friday morning around 7:30am. They resumed broadcasting from nearby rivals LBC around 9am. That's the same LBC that James Whale joined when he got sacked from Talksport! The same LBC that they take the piss out of!

    This was the first time that I heard of this arrangement between Global and UTV to share if there is an incident in either studio.

    I always wondered what the contingency plans for local and national commercial stations are here.

    I remember Northern Sound's new studios in the grounds of Cavan Crystal Hotel going up in smoke, but at least they have studios in Monaghan, and their sister station Shannonside is there too in Longford. (They are back in Cavan, but they didn't rebuild on the same site.) I suppose as radio stations are now part of media groups, contingency is all the easier, except where several stations share the same house, but I presume it would've been so much harder before consolidation.

    I remember that fire in Cavan also, around 5 years ago if I'm not mistaken. I think there was an electrical fault in the hotel kitchen that spread to other parts including the studio.

    Northern Sound built a new studio in Cavan around 2 years ago, and has just finished new studios, offices and a training centre in Monaghan.
