Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ah man you should see my e-penis at the moment its massive  Ive only mentioned it in threads about a specific game that someone else made. Yes maybe I could have said nothing about downloading but it would only beg the question of where/how did you get it?

Fable 2, Far Cry 2, GOW 2 - everyone who has played them seems to love them.

Has anyone played Fallout3 here yet? Surely all these new games can't be good...

    also the game is finished

why the hell isnt it out now

microsoft have brought this pirating of gow2 on themselves

    so screw'em

That's an Interesting take on things...

The game may be finished and have 'gone gold', this just means that a final master copy has been made and copies of this have to be made, packaged, and shipped internationally. For a game the size of GoW2 that would be millions of copies to go to thousands of retailers / distributors in loads of different countries. Which requires no small amount of planning, co-ordinating and execution.

All the pirate requires is one single copy of the disc, a copy of DVD ripping software and a copy of μTorrent and he's on his way.

Quite how MS have brought the pirating on themselves (and Screw 'em) is not clear. Other than a 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' mentality from some people who are too impatient to wait for something. I don't think the legal defence of "It's their own fault" or "They were asking for it" is going to hold water.

It would be funny if they used Gamertags of anyone who played online this early (which they can easily get from records since every game you play is logged against your gamertag) and tagged their playing online with something to mark them as a pirate (Like they way Bungie employees in Halo 3 have a burning helmet) ... If you had a big target over your head in Online Multiplayer because you played early, so when everyone else gets the game they can spot the pirates easily and riddle them senseless.
    :P

Now, apart from all that, it does actually raise a good point about potential distribution channels for future releases. OK we all see that Steam for the PC and similar services have really taken off (PSN / XBLA). It's obvious that the next generation of consoles (or even the latter stages of this generation) will all be about full game downloads. XBox originals being an example from Microsoft. Burnout Paradise is a good example on PS3 - a current Gen game that can be fully downloaded (legally).

I'm sure that most of the well intentioned, and perfectly above board, legit downloaders playing on Modded consoles would be willing to buy a copy of a game if it was legally available to download at a fraction of the cost of a physical game in the shops.

I'm sure the various publishers just have to agree on the pricing model and the controls on the file (you know they'll DRM it  - burn 'x' times, activate 'y' times, etc.) and of course for Internet Connections to come up to scratch so you don't have to wait forever for a BD image to download.

Another of the reasons I can see this download method becoming more popular with publishers is that they are tired of the likes of GameStop or Game from continually making money off of reselling second hand games for which the publisher makes nothing.

Lads, read the charter. Talk of downloading/burning/playing pirated software will not be tolerated. Thread locked.
