Peru to award broadband contract for rural areas Monday 20 October 2008 |

Peru's investment promotion agency ProInversion announced that it will award on 20 November a contract for bringing broadband services to isolated areas, reported local newspaper El Comercio. The project would bring telephony, broadband and ICT services to up to 1.6 million inhabitants in 24 regions of the country. The project requires an investment of USD 55.6 million. Amongst the cities included in the project are Cusco, Apurimac, Huancavelica, Ayacucho, Ica, Arequipa, Puno, Moquegua, Tacna, Lima, Junin, Pasco, Huanuco, Ucayali, La Libertad, Ancash, San Martin, Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, Amazonas, Loreto and Cajamarca.
