    Hi,

Do you have to present the V5 document at the VRO when paying the VRT? I have the log book showing previous owners and the service history and an invoice showing payment to a garage would they accept that?

    Thanks,

    S.

All you need is the V5 or V5C as its now called in the UK.

Use this to fill out the form in the VRO office.

    Pay to VRT.

You will get a receipt from the VRO which also includes your new reg no.

Go down to Auto factors and get plates made up (5 mins) costs about 25e.

It takes about 3 days for the details to be processed, after this you should be able to tax the car.

During those three days keep the receipt with you in the car incase the Gardai ask why your not displaying a tax disc
