Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is it me or what ??

Tubridy has Higgins and John Waters on talking about whether or not we have class distinction in Ireland.

Asked Higgins his definition of "working class" and got back despite several attempts to rein him in the most obtuse / disjointed load of sh1t I have heard in a long time.

This was the guy Higgins who spesialised in "witty" retorts during dail debates until the voters in West Dublin copped on to his auld sh1t an flung him out at the last election.

Needless to say he is some sort of socialist and from Kerry to make matters worse.

Thankfully Tubbs gave this long winded asshole short shrift.

Is it me or does anybody else think this chappie has past his sell by date ?/

I had the displeasure of being at a debate a number of years ago where Joe Higgins was ranting about the plight of the common worker, the bourgeoisie elite, and the relevance of socialism. The type of thing the vast majority of people grow out of when they leave college, and realise that the Che Guevara t-shirt is a bit naff. But not our Joe. As I saw somewhere on this site, being a socialist is like being a betamax salesman in a world of DVD.

I thought Tubridy didn't make a great job of the entire thing. Its the kind of limp wristed piece that RTE do so well. And bringing on John Waters as the ranting right wing bad guy is just too easy. I'd prefer Ian O'Doherty to take up that mantle.

The following list of contrarians should not be allowed on the radio:

    John Waters
    Joe Higgins
    Eoin Harris
    Willie O'Dea
    Niall Crowley
    Neil McCafferty

It didn't stop our erstwhile Taoiseach making it one of his claims to fame before the last election, he then proceeded to vote for last Tuesday's budget. Nothing wrong with Socialism as a concept, indeed, as a supposedly Christian country, some degree of Socialism should be an aspiration, but I agree there are extremes of view and J.H. probably holds those. It would be a mistake to keep people off the airways just because of the views they hold, that is what was done with Sinn Fein in the 70's and the result was nobody could publicly debate their policies.
