Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I would have said Zenit well on top with BATE having some chances on the break - would be surprised if Zenit don't manage to win this the way this is going.

Agree tis a decent game though

    BATE 1-0.

In fairness Zenit had another really decent chance there just right before the goal.

Zenit have created a lot more chances than BATE but just couldnt/cant seem to get the ball in the back of the net.

The goal was against the run of play and Zenit had been on top again in the second half.

Will be interesting to see how this will go now.

Arshavin has been decent without being outstanding - did nearly score a lovely goal after beating two men (if not three) but his own player got in the way.

Looks like thats my accumulator shagged already.
How can a team with Arshavin lose? I though he was like Pele+Maradona mixed together but ten times better.....
Well at least according to 99% of people who watched the Euro's...

They equalized in the 80th minute. Really should have won it too. They were all over them for the last 25 minutes.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Zenit were pretty much on top all throughout the game and created a bagful of decent chances - just couldnt get the ball into the net (apart from the goal obv)

Whelan taking junk on RTE - Walcott finally turning into a player - He's 19 ffs.

BATE aren't doing themselves (or Belarus) a great disservice.

Two very good results, imo, and in a very tough group. I still see them finishing bottom but, tbh, they've offered a lot more than I thought they would.

    Two Juve Fans Die

Sad news this, there was a bus crash today in Turin before Juventus' match with Real. It hasn't effected the kick-off but they did have a minutes applause before hand. Sad to see these sort of things happening.

"Two Juventus fans have died in a motorway smash near Turin this afternoon.

The accident involved the coach they were travelling on which was on its way to the Stadio Olimpico for the game between the Bianconeri and Real Madrid.

The incident happened near the Etroubles district in Gran San Bernardo valley. The coach was full of tourists which were Juventus fans from Switzerland.

Early reports suggest the bus, which was travelling on the SS 27 road towards Turin, veered off the carriageway and smashed into a house.

Emergency services rushed to the scene where it was confirmed that two people have been killed and at least 10 passengers are seriously injured.

Those involved in the crash were rushed to hospital via air ambulance. The rescue is on going and firefighters are still cutting their way through the wreckage as they attend to those trapped inside the coach. It is unknown as to whether or not the accident will effect the game later this evening.

A full police investigation has been launched."

    From the BBC.........
Forgive me for getting carried away folks...Our 36 goals tonight merely equalled the Champions League record from 2000, it didn't break it. Still a memorable night though, especially for my poor fingers.

Juve without Buffon and Trezeguet but playing pretty well.

They were also missing Camoranesi, Poulsen, Zebina, Zanetti and Tiago.

    5 first team starters missing.

    Fantastic result for them.

I was shocked he wasn't included in the Ballon D'or list.

I mean he captained his side from relegation to third in the serie A, was the leagues top goal scorer and all round best player and all this at 34????

Not only that but hes been nothing but the complete role model for all and last season in particular he was inspiring.

    Not even shortlisted! Criminal.

    Delighted for Del Boy.

The guy is an aboslute legend and a player I've loved watching for the best part of 15 years. Hopefully he has another year or two left in him.

    Odds with Mr Patrick Power:

    Atletico Madrid 6 - 4

    Draw 9 - 4

    Liverpool 9 - 5

    Nope.

But that said, I wouldn't be surprised to see Liverpool losing.

UEFA have said that the referee has full backing if he decides to remove the teams from the pitch in case of racist chanting.
