Hi I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on the above. I currently have a '07 1.6 ford focus. With our current economic climate (with the probability that I'll be out of work due to cutbacks) I'm looking at changing the car which would be more economical on petrol (or should I be looking at diesel?) as well as having low C02 emission for low tax.

I currently do mostly short journeys which would be approx 20km per trip per day with maybe 2 long journeys approx 160kms per month. Would anyone be able to recommend a car which would suit my needs?
