For that budget, go with intel they are far superior processors

    a core2duo 3.0 ghz e8400 should be within budget
radeon 4850 is v good but you should also be able to afford a 4870 which is practically top of the line
you should be getting 6400 ram not 5300

try that spec on www.hardwareversand.de, choose english and choose pc configurator and mess around

    for 1k
8400 processor (or q6600 quad core)
    radeon 4870 graphics
    4 gig 6400 ram
    1 tb samsung drive

    should be possible

Indeed, do not bother with a AMD setup as it just isnt up to the job anymore. Even intel's lowest range cpu'd can put much higher spec machines to shame. Also give the PC builder on Komplett.ie a try. you can save a fair whack of cash having it pre built

that spec is using the pc builder. but it has been a while since i built my own pc. and that was when you were better off going for AMD than intel. so will have to have a look at an Intel setup. i think it was a bit more expensive though.

i'll have a look at that other site later on when i get home to see if i can make it cheaper. do they assemble it for you or do they ship the components to you?

You've got the choice of either. For €20 they'll assemble for you. I paid for a build on Monday and I'll post feedback on the whole process when I get delivery. It appears that they have a policy of not responding to emails which aren't related to existing orders, but their automated feedback once you've initiated an order is impressive.

Strange I just put in that spec from the komplett pc on hardwareversand pc configurator with a 4850 instead of a 4870, minus speakers and network card and it came to 933 euros...

The komplett PC is v good but you could save a bit by going with the german site, however its up to you

Get a samsung 1tb drive instead of 2 500's should be cheaper?
Spend 75 euros max on 4 gig of ram
The ASUS 22 inch 2 ms monitor is perfect for gaming

I think there is a bug on the german site for picking a graphics card, someone here figured it out

hmmm, maybe i just need to play around with the configurer more and go for price. but it has been a while since i learned all my hardware stuff so i'm a bit out of the loop as to the differences in motherboards and ram so i might just start going for the cheaper options.

was playing with it earlier and got it down to €1000
