Hi Im new to boards just moved up to dublin. Ive always had an interest in homebrewing and with the recession here and all seems time to get in on the game. So im wondering is there an actual bricks and mortar shop in dublin that sells buckets and yeast and all the equipment needed? I could buy off www.homebrewcompany.ie but it seems a shame to pay the(very reasonable)7 euro delivery fee..

There is no walk in shops that has their range left, it is just more profitable to run the business on line. But this is a common thread in the UK and US.

The home brew company are great and there also the option of Grape and grain Dublin

You can also pick up bits and pieces from non-specialist shops. TK Maxx is apparently good for stockpots; the mayonnaise tubs used in the catering trade are food-grade and therefore suitable for fermenting in, if clean. Brewer's yeast, I think, can be got from health food shops. The discount supermarkets do some good value unfiltered apple juice you can make cider with.

Or you can just mash up some fruit in a plastic bag and leave it under the radiator. Mmmm... Mountjoy Claret...
