maintenance grant application form, co-habiting/husband and wife

    Hi
i am in a sticky situation regarding my mature student grant application. when filling out the application form, i ticked the 'co-habiting' box, as i am living with my boyfriend, though we are not married. we share rent and bills equally and have separate bank accounts.
the grant people seem to think this means we are 'co-habiting as husband and wife' and want details about my boyfriends job, which i feel is unnecessary as his finances have absolutely nothing to do with me.
it seems you can only pick one of two extremes- either you are single or you are living with some one as husband and wife.
our situation is more like we are flatmates than married, will the grant people accept this explanation or will i have to get his original long form birth cert and all sorts of other ridiculous information just to get my grant?
