    Hello,
Looking for a machinery transporter to bring a hedge cutter from England to Ireland (NW preferably - Mayo - Sligo - Leitrim). Anybody got any ideas?

contact cheffins www.cheffins.co.uk they run large machinery auctions with a big irish customer base, they can put you in contact with some people who do this on a regular basis.

to be honest your better off to visit an auction, there's loads of irish carriers over there waiting for loads, you can fly from shannon to stanstead, its bout 40 min to 1 hour from there, its a good day out if you have a few friends with you, ive done it twice.

i used a haulier from the north before, expect to pay 400 - 500 euro for a tractor.

Ended up getting a local general haulier (not machinery haulier) who does uk-ireland regularly with 40' curtain-sider - 400 euro.

Just going to suggest that OP. There's loads of lorries coming back empty from the U.K. and Europe via the U.K. They'll usually try to maximise profits and efficiency by bringing a load each way, but alot of the time that's not possible. I'm sure €400 wouldn't pay for their ferry and diesel from the pick up. Bargain.
