PWInsider:

WWE informed all of their announcers this week to refer to their talent as "entertainers" as opposed to wrestlers or even Superstars, effective immediately.

A really telling sign of the direction WWE seems to be intent on travelling on.

I have to say i'm feeling the same way as well. The last year or so in Pro Wrestling hasn't been much fun for me either. And the muppetry metre went off the scale this week in this very forum unfortunately.

Vince is losing it in his old age, to add insult to injury, he's slowly sinking his Titanic promotion. My fear is when he eventually steps down, if Shane, or whoever takes over the business end gets to take over the reins, that it'll be in such piss poor shape that the damage is too much to turn it around.

Kevin Dunn (WWE's Television Producer) is the person who is said to be responsible for this stuff. Dunn hates Wrestling.

Wrestling Observer reported that the use of entertainer is an attempt to get round athletic commission namely Georgia’s rules on steroids and taxation. It is akin to them referring to themselves as sports entertainment in the late 80s.
