domestic well pump maintanance ? help please

    hi can anyone please tell me the correct way to check and pressurise the pressure vessel on a domestic well pump?
    Do you switch of the pump and open a tap to relieve pressure then check the pressure of the bladder and if necessary bring it up to the right pressure before switching back on again
    Never done it before and don't want to mess things up
