Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A home-made bomb exploded while an army bomb disposal team worked to defuse it overnight in Ashbourne, Co Meath.

The team began examining the device at about 12.45am. After almost an hour, when they were defusing it, the bomb went off. No one was injured - an evacuation of the area had already taken place - but there was some damage to the house behind which the device was placed.

At the time of the explosion, neither the bomb disposal officer nor the robot used to defuse bombs was next to the device, which was located at the rear of a private house at the Milltown estate, Ashbourne, Co Meath.

The remains of the device were collected and given to gardaí for examination.

A few months ago, two people were stabbed in that same estate. One died from his injuries. A witness is set to give evidence in court in a couple of weeks as the main witness to the murder.

Apparently this pipe bomb was an attempt by the muderer (who has connections with serious dublin based criminals) to intimadate the witness and stop him from testifying.

that is exactly what I heard. Mind you I wonder should it be mentioned here at all .. as nothing was mentioned in the news reports linking the trial to this incident.
