    without drawing graph calculate gradient of the curve y=3xsquared+2x+7=0
    at the point where x= -2

    can you use y=mx+c:confused:

    Just dy/dx the curve and fill it in for x= -2

    Does gradient mean slope?

    /me fails maths

    Yah, just differentiate the equation of the curve, fill in -2 for x and there ya go, thats the slope at that point. (At least I think that's what you've to do anyway, I'm probably wrong).

    y=3x^2 + 2x +7

    differentiating an equation finds the slope of it.

    dy= 6x +2
    dx

    let x= -2

    slope of curve at x= -2

    6(-2) + 2

    -10

    Tricky question, not hard, just saying gradient instead of slope made it tricky!
