Why is the quality of the picture so bad, I know we didn't have HDTV back then but it was better than this!

It's been pulled off VHS which has been sitting in some storeroom in RTE for 20 years, so there's no way it's going to be great quality

Worse, it is tape which came from a viewer.

I'm glad they showed it anyway. Great memories. They did some good things with the format.

The only footage of Dempsey's Den / The Den from its inception (1986) until around 1993 is amateur off-air VHS recorded by a fan of the show. Thankfully, he was so religious in his taping that the complete series exists.

Yeah but how would they work that? With the same guys doing the voices and operating the puppets and all.

Didn't one of them usually leave whenever Podge made an appearance on the Den or am I imagining that? Be sort of **** if it was just Zig and Zag not interacting with Podge and Rodge in any way!

rte had no recorded footage as the show went out live, a fan had a lot of the shows on vhs, and donated them to RTE.
