not enough info, what age are ya?, full licence?, no claims?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,172 ✭✭✭Top Dog

What Evo? What mods? Have you currently got any car insured with anyone?

  • Registered Users Posts: 132 ✭✭pmcf

Sorry forgot to put down im 29 full licence no points etc and have full NCB its an evo 7 with no mods ,i had my old car insured with FBD but they were the ones that quoted me €2500 for the evo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,717 ✭✭✭ARGINITE

Its an Evo not your normal A-B car. You can expect to pay quite a bit more for the pleasure of driving it. I have heard of higher quote then €1400 for people in the same age bracket.

Would I be right in guessing that the quote above is for fully comp insurance?

Still quite surprised at it though, thought Donegal would have been relatively low-risk. Have you tried Hibernian? They quoted me €1100 fully comp on a GTI-R, and then insured my wife on it for a shade over €500. ;)

Yeah its for fully comp didnt see the point in going third party as its only €150 difference,i tried hibernian they were €1600 ive rung about a few more companys and €1400 is the best im going its not to bad really when i think i was paying €900 for a celica so the evo not much dearer when u think about the power difference

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,172 ✭✭✭Top Dog

Well with that comparison, no, it doesn't sound quite so bad.

Still sounds expensive to me though given your age. 900 on a Celica isn't the greatest really. I'm only 3 years older than you and paying €420 fully comp on a Golf GTI.

Really do think that insurance is just a lottery. Some days you get lucky, others you don't.

Id say donegal would be one of the highest risk areas

I'm afraid I'd agree on that.

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    Hey Mate

1400 is really good for a VII

    I'm paying 2200 for my V (I'm 25 and living in Dublin)

    Total rip off really!
Lads in the UK in the same circumstances as us are paying £500-£700. we're getting totally shafted here.

I'd take the 1400 offer (may I as who that was with?)

A mate of mine is in the same bother.
Has an Evo VII and best he can get is €1400 with XS direct
He's 30 with full NCB AFAIK
I pay 750 for a Focus ST with egal star, when most insurers were looking upwards of €1800.
It pays to shop around but from what my mate said it's the best ur gonna get.
His insurance agent told him that people are crashing Evo's all the time hence the high price.

OT slightly but to the Lads who have the Silvia's, who u insured with?

Try a couple insurance brokers mate. Evo7 ain't going to br cheap to insure, or service, or keep petrol in, or on tyres et cetera:)

Yeah 1400 is the best i could get its with AA insurance als got quoted that by britton.
You get ripped of by everything in ireland esp insurance and road tax

1,400 isn't bad - esp for fully comp. You're probaly getting caught by a loading on the car. The cover letter for my insurance this year explained that it was going up because the car had been re-evaluated. Basically, based on the perceived insurance risk of the car, everybody gets a loading regardless of who they are. For boy-racer cars like Civics and Glanzas the loading is very high. The Escort used to be very high too because it was so popular with thieves. On my policy the loading was 1,800 on it's own. There was discounts applied after that so I'm paying about 1400 as well.

M8 what company? i am planing to change mine car next year after i get mine second Ncb.

I will be 23years old and will have 2 Ncb, so i hope to get about same low insurance as you, for skyline, silvia or scooby wrx.

Thought i do pay 1200eu for merc clk200 at the moment, and have mine misses as named driver.

Awesome m8, if it will be around 1.3k eu, it would be sound, ill take that car, and give mine merc to misses full rights :D.

she is 25, so it should not be expencive to insure it for her. thought quinn direct wount make any discount for her, for having 2 years being named driver :(

Hibernian will not take on an evo 7 for new business.

On a sidenote, area ratings tend to be more concerned with risk of theft and traffic density as opposed to how many windy country roads the area has.
