I went waaaay over the dl limit this month and downloaded about 80gb according to the BT online summary! So BT are throttling me, which I agree is fair enough. When will the throttling stop though?

Start of the next calendar month as far as I know.

Strange, I seem to be able to go over it big style but never get throttled, maybe it is because we had a massive row with BT over billing last year....we won :D

Even though the usage checker resets at the start of the month its actually a rolling 30 day cap, so you will continue to be throttled till your usage for the last 30 days go below a certain point. Not sure if that point is actually the cap or if it is some other number, since they don't throttle till you go way over its also possible that they throttle you at a number higher than the cap.

I read up on o few other threads here and as far as I can tell they throttle when total transfer (up and down) passes 100gb (my total is about 102gb at the mo). Hopefully in a day or two it'll drop down to 99gb and they'll stop!

Does anyone know of any packages other than smartt or ntl that have unlimited transfer?

I'm being throttled now too. I rang them about it and spoke to a tech support bloke and he said I run the risk of it becoming a regular thing. As pointed out its on a 30 day rolling basis (or is it 28 days?), so as I drop below the limit and get unthrottled it will not take much to hit the limit again. He reckons laying off the downloads for about 2 weeks is the only way out of it and of course not going too crazy in future :)

Just checking my usage and although I have only downloaded 12.32GB(with .55GB up) I am being notified at the current rate I will be over my download limit in 12 days.

I thought the caps were upped with the upgrades. Is this just a mandatory warning thats been there since before the upgrades and so not worth bothering with or am I really that close to my limit?(which I thought was around 100GB).

I was on their 3MB package for the last few years until the recent upgrade so am more or less on their highest package.

*** edit*** I`m on their option 3 package so should have "unlimited" download.(fair usage etc).

    Just curious!

Im stuck with a maximum of 5GB per month, thanks to Vodafone being the only provider in my area!, but in the good old days when I lived elsewhere and I was doing real downloading I never managed to download that much!

And I used to download various stuff;)

I know its been a while but is there that much out there worth that amount of downloading or am i missing out with my crappy 5GB!

I downloaded over 112GB last month with BT and they throttled me for a full 7 days.

    I'm switching to UPC.

I`ve only downloaded a little over 12GB so far this month and it seems to be calculating a 30GB cap. Surely it should be 100GB. I`m just trying to find out if the counter is accurate or just outdated and feeding info based on the old speed/caps.
