Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi there,

    I am having a serious problem with my Laptop;

    When the laptop is powered up I firstly get NTLDR is missing-I managed to get a file when burned to cd sorts that out but then when I progress on I get a message say the hal.dll file is missing.

    I have tried to do a clean installation using the boot cd but I again get the NTLDR message. I don't know what to try now...

    Any ideas - thanks!

    I have seen this error many times before.
    When you done a clean installation did you format the drive or re-install over the existing drive?

    Best practice would be to delete and then create a newly formatted partition and install the OS onto this.

    Good luck.

    Thanks

    I managed to get it sorted - I simply put in another version of xp and installed that on the formatted HD. So strange the way it didnt work on the original cd.

    I still dont understand why it worked with another version of xp and not the original.

    Problem solved anywho!

    Simple solution is to boot up your Windows XP installation CD from Power-On Self Test, go into Recovery Console, then run fixmbr and fixboot.
