BT told me there's nothing they can do and they don't care about ping times.

Does anyone know if you can get out of the contract because of this bad service?

Upgraded speeds are worse for ping on DSL :(

Anyone on 7.6 meg rings up whinging about pings and they give them the same ****. So why upgrade at all. Line cant handle it lol.

    Its the Upgrade of Death.

Ask them to revert your connection to the old 3MB way, pre-upgrade.

Sorry Just to clear this up,

Ive been noticing lag on COD lately,so I thought to myself that it would probably worth getting a better speed in(7mb)especially as gears is coming out soon

Basically eircom told me I have a crap line in my house and all it can hold is 4 mb

So I rang around to see if I could get another provider,20 mb sounded nice, but the girl said that I will have to wait to get my line upgraded by Eircom.

I know people who live 5 miles away and they have 20 mb,

Is there any way I could get this sorted to get a better speed?

Thanks in advance for any help

Lag is not improved by higher speed, the reverse can be true on DSL.

I doubt anyone on DSL can get 20Mbps at 5miles (8km). 8km is about the max distance and at that you are lucky if you either get it all or more than 1Mbps.

Only LLU up to 1 or 2km, Cable, fibre (in very few places) and some wireless systems (up to 20km) can do 20Mbps.
