Saw it advertised there in the Independent.
Deal starts tomorrow and appears to be the older 40gig models.
Still a great deal if you're looking for a Blue-Ray player on the Cheap.
And it also seems that it's a cash price not a club card deal.

I don't play the PS3 that much, but use it more for Blu-ray, slideshows, tv shows on memory stick etc., in saying that tho' i'm not sure what the Xbox can do that the PS3 can't.

I have a clubcard and got over €200 in vouchers on an XBox 360 a year back in Tesco.. and it was great leading up to Christmas (cheap booze and snacks!) but saving €100 by way of Tesco Vouchers just doesn't win me over anymore.

These models are seriously dodge. Awful lot of problems with them, disc drives stopping working and freezing. This is also a old model, theres an 80gb out now, its €399 but it shouldn't give you bother.

Also most places are selling the 40gb @ €399 along side the 60gb, bit stupid. Surely shops will be left with these.

Rumour has it there will be a shortage of these at Crimbo, Sony doing the usual stunt. Wonder will they be caught on the Suaze canal again?! :rolleyes::rolleyes:

The Xbox 360 for €179.99 is not bad, a 20GB HD would be more than enough for most people, unless you want to download a lot of movies. The 360 is an excellent media streamer as well. Any games in the bundle though (which would definitely be a clincher)?

I'm tempted to get a PS3 but wish it came with the Dual Shock 3 (rumble) controller. I'd might wait for a bundle that includes a couple of them ... and a game I care about (Little Big Planet). Tesco can be so unreliable when it comes to getting hold of stuff like this.

Hadn't heard that there were many issues with the 40GB model. So I'm guessing it's not as much of an issue as the red ring issue on the 360. Also, the PS3 allows you to swap out its non-proprietary hard drive for any 2.5" one, so that's something to bear in mind.

When Sony gets crushed by the Xbox 360 and the Wii this Christmas they'll have to reduce the price big time.

The Xbox 360 is half the price, and has the same AAA titles (Dead Space, Far Cry II, COD5, Fallout 3) and far more exclusives than the Ps3 - Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Banjo 3.

I'd pay 200 euro for a PS3 which is around what'll be after Christmas.

As an 360 owner, I can admit Sony has far more exciting exclusive titles coming out in the next few months - LBP for one!

I really don't think the PS3 will be "crushed" this Christmas by sales of other consoles.. I think this may be their strongest year (judging by how they've pretty much halved in price in the last year). They're much more affordable now than they were last Christmas.

The reason people buy the PS3 is mainly for the Blue-Ray player. and as a media player. I've had the 40 gig PS3 for nearly a year and it's simply brilliant as a media centre. I always buy the games for the xbox 360 as they tend to be cheaper. But the games on PS3 are just as good (sometimes not as pretty mind you) but as an a total package the PS3 is a far superior machine techwise. PS3 is also free online and has it's own exclusives like little Big Planet and MGS. PS3 doesn't sound like a washing machine either

But get both ..and boycot the resession whohoooo
