Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi

Im at first fix on a block built dormer with wood joist ceiling on the ground floor. I plan to use rockwool in between the joists but I wondered if many people double slab the ceiling and are they please with the results.

Any help would be appreciated - Thanks

If its just the horizontal ceiling then use insulation between the joists and above them aswell or alternatively between the joists and use insulation backed plasterboard for the ceiling. Double slabbing will only increase your thermal mass as far as I can see. I think this would be more appropriate on the walls if anything

you will improve airborne sound insulation with double slabs - so long as you don't pepper the ceiling then with recessed lighting

Slig, I think he is refering to the first floor, as in the ground floor ceiling.
Doubling slabbing in relation to sound proofing

    Hi

Sorry for the confusion, I am refering to the ground floor ceiling. No plans for recessed lights here but there will be a projector and projector screen recessed into the joists (wife says Im allowed these toys as long as they dont show when in use).

I reealise that these will be a weak spot for sound but Im learning that part of house building is making compromises everywhere
