Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Blocking Software Suggestions Please

I'm setting up a second copy of Xp for a parent, on a newly partitioned created drive.
They want the ability to stop their kids installing software/games etc ("c" was infested due to the kids installing items - all cleaned up now).
I have Netnanny. Can anyone suggest an alternative to stop them?

I have already set the parental admin section as passworded by the way.
The children will be set-up on the system with guest rights of course.
I just want to be sure they can't install anything further on this partition.

    Thanks.
    Biggins. :)

you didn't need to setup a second copy of xp for the parent, just makes things messy. the parent should have an administrator account, the kids a limited account. This prevents installing stuff that requires administrator status. There's software out there that will do the job too, here's the first result I got on google .

just do a search for "install block" you should get a few solutions. Not aware of any free ones though. You can also customise windows to prevent installing on limited accounts. Don't have a link handy though.

You could also create a user and in the properties tab after creating the user, go to group membership and select restricted user. This will not allow installation of programs.

    Cheers for the replies.

I just purchased the app Install-Block. Hope that will do the job too beside the setting up of the limited accounts. It should do.
Cheers again, for the quick replies. :)
