Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Almunia

    Sagna
    Clichy
    Gallas
    Silvestre

    Nasri
    Fab
    Denilson
    Theo

    RVP
    Ade

Strong enough team, might have preferred Diaby to start. Expect to see him in the last half hour

very surprised bent is not playing.

arsenal have a very good back line, they all will be very comfortable in this game I think, I see the sunners winning 2-0, with maybe Fabregas getting on the scoresheet and having a very big game.

Interesting that Silvestre keeps his place, could Gallas and Silvestre be our number one pairing at cb.

If the Spurs lads dig in, and get a result, would it be fair to say that they weren't doing it for Ramos?

Does Mr Joe Soap still post here? :pac:

Fabregas claimed Spurs wouldnt beat Arsenal ladies, cheeky git ;)

Dunno why but I feel a draw may be in order.

You'd be amazed what a new manager can get under performing players to do in his first couple of games in charge

    Bollox...

    1-0 Spurs

    Good goal Bentley

    Understatement of the season imo.

    What a goal.

    Fantastic strike by Bentley tbh.

Is this the only live game on Sky/Setanta?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,169 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Oh no. This is shaping up badly.

New manager syndrome. Cesc's apparent comments coming back to haunt him. Ex Arsenal player Bentley showing why they shouldn't have let him leave.

****ing hell, BBC's makes it sound amazing:
We've just seen the goal of the season. The ball is bouncing all over the place just inside the Arsenal half and David Bentley, a la Matt le Tissier against Blackburn in 1995, knees the ball up and volleys it over Manuel Almunia from fully 40 yards. We might have just seen Bentley's 'Beckham' moment.

Night like this, glad I dont bet on football....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,169 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Can't fault Bentley's technique but you'd have to fault Almunia for his positioning, and he still should have saved it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 589 ✭✭✭vincenzo1975

watching this on the BBc text service,

sounds Like van persie is in the game a lot more then adebayor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,129 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

I thought myself there was a foul in the buildup and shoud've been a free out, but spectacular vision by Bentley

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,129 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

There must surely be some yellow cards for the spuds pretty soon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,169 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Arsenal finally looking like the better side in the last 10-15 minutes. Final ball isn't there though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 589 ✭✭✭vincenzo1975

sounds like denilson is getting kicked up and down the field, I count 5 fouls on him already.

1-1 Silvestre header. Keeper got lost under the corner, decent flick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

    WE LOVE YOU SILVESTRE!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,169 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Silvestre scores for Arsenal. Is it just me or does that still feel a little strange?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,129 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

EASY EASY EASY!! has Harry got the flu because he just looked fairly sick there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,815 ✭✭✭Charlie

Another stinker from Gomes. Seriously, when is reckless gonna fess up, and admit this chap is worse than blobbo?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 589 ✭✭✭vincenzo1975

    GET IN YOU BEAUTY......
Toure on the bench again at the weekend?

assist for van persie, he's my captain in the fantasy football whoohoo!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,096 ✭✭✭An Citeog

    Night of the dodgy keepers!:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Gomez will be gone in January I'd say. Spurs shoulda taken Foster instead of Campbell.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,677 ✭✭✭staker

'Arry better lace his boots to the goalposts til then.
But then there's nobody being stretchered off which is nice...

    1.Bentley...take a bow son...take a bow...genius goal by a player i greatly dislike.
2.Gomes is horrible. Worse keeper in the league I'd say. Any top flight keeper is a good shot stopper, Gomes perhaps is better than most but still he's just so so bad.
3.I'd say Pav is awesome actually at a match, like Doyle.
4.Modric is so smart but his distrubution is woeful.
    5.Is Walcott always this bad?

Been thinking that aswell. He doesnt really seem to care

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,129 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

As an Arsenal fan I'm pretty happy with that. We proved we can break them down and score against them whereas it took a 'once in a season' if not a 'once in a lifetime' goal to score. If the spuds play the same the second half I'd be happy because they look tired and look like they are going nowhere. I just hope I don't get these words shoved back down my neck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

I don't want to put down Bentley, amazing strke, but watching it there, Almunia shoulda done better. Not just his positioning (which is ok I'd say) but he got his hand to it, shoulda be knocked away.

i think he definetly shows great talent, and its easy to forgot he's so young, but i mean he's far far far from being anything close to a great player.

Fcukin hell, Top Top is an even more odious cretin to listen to tonight, now that his aul lad has the Spuds job. No doubt a sign of things to come.

Why do Sky employ this mong!!!!

    What do you mean?

He has done ok, end product could be slightly better but is making some great runs.

OMG that jamie redknapp is cringeworthy....' its not a foul i tells ya'

Well his end product could be infinitely better tbh, but he has made some good runs to be fair..

Definetly would expect more with the rave reviews I've been hearing.

He has done well this season, certainly stepped up from last, he is not a winger, he will eventually be played as a striker, Wenger has suggested as much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,129 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

Well if things go to form Gomez should start taking out a few of his defenders and create a bit of space in that crowded Spurs box

Everything I hear is woeful, Fat Pat is on top in the punditry stakes at the moment for me.

2-1 Gallas - another set-piece goal for the Gunners.

two set piece goals from arsenal.

    delighted....much deserved.

Indeed. Someone should tell him to loosen up those tight trousers and let his balls drop It's a foooooooooualllllllllll!!.

Of course, Sky chuckling it off, making out its all gravy that Jamie is rooting for aul pa. Seriously, for a station that is usually uber professional in many aspects, it is very unprofessional to have this chap employed (at all?) for the games his old man is featured in.
