People that walk for their exercise, how long are your walks? Just curious to know how long mine are in comparisons to others. I drove the route this evening and it works out at about 3.5km/2.2miles. It takes me 35mins to do and I'd do it about 3/4 times a week. Just worried that it's not enough!

I do about 2.5 to 3 miles a few times a week. Takes me about 40-50mins. Reading everyone else's exercise regimes I feel like I need to up my pace.
Walked across town to OH's parents tonight, it just under 3 miles and took us 53mins. But OH is a bit of a sight seer! He just saunters along! Went to
Glendalough yesterday and thinking bout going to mount Leinster this wkend. It's good to do a bit of hill work as I'm on the flat the whole time in the town.

I track my walks on imapmyfitness on the iPhone. It's great tracks your route on gps aswell as distance and time. Great for keeping track of your exercise

Hey this is my Jamie Oliver Recipe for pancakes. This makes enough for 4 people so I am going to cut it in half though because it makes far too much.
    Serves Four
    One cup of s/r flour (150g= 15pp),
1 cup of milk (250ml of skimmed milk = 3 pp),
    1 egg (= 2pp)
    so 15 altogether.
I’ll prob still put the whole egg in, so the recipe in half would be about 11 pp and that’s enough for two people and two good pancakes each! I grate a pear into the mixture too before frying on a non stick pan with a little spray oil.
    Yum :)

 Only one pancake...how can you be so disciplined!

I read somewhere this morning that someone puts melted cream egg, marshmallows and ice-cream on their pancake. Wonder how many points that wld be! Probly need this week and next week's weekly allowance for just one! Sounds sickeningly (SP) nice tho!

Hi eefums, I totally understand the nerves but try not to set unrealistic goals for yourself coz it will make it harder to stick with it, if you don't reach them.
I think everyone here will agree that the propoints programme seems to be a slower weight loss, so bear that in mind too.
Good luck...make sure and post back to let us know how you get on :)

    Hi all!

I am going to make pancakes tonight (with skimmed milk and one egg as per Lady Lainy's recipe) however I just had breakfast in the work canteen there and decided to have a pancake as they looked so nice.

It was about the size of a side plate and I just put a little bit of Low Low on it.
I have no idea how to point it!!!!

Any ideas anyone? I'd say it was just standard, eggs, flour, milk ...

    :o

what are peoples thoughts on going walking/running on an empty stomach?

I went for a 3mile jalk(walk/Jog) this morning (06:50 it was bloody freezing) and felt as if I could throw up near the end of it...I kept the same pace/time as I normally would, only difference is that normall y I would do this in the evening.

    Thanks

Maybe its because we only have just over 24 hours left before Lent that is making us go mad today. Even the thought of my WI in the morning has not stopped me eating a chocolate bun covered in chocolate butter icing & decorated with mini eggs. No dailies left, but luckily there are some weeklies left. Stuffed now though, so at least it satisfied my cravings.

Anyone going off anything? I'm giving up diet coke - I drink too much of the stuff. Just hope I can do it because it fills me up if I have a can between meals & sometimes it gives me a cafeine boost late afternoon to get me through kids homeworks & making the dinner etc. I don't drink tea or coffee so I expect I'll be nodding off on the sofa! I do intend to increase my water intake instead. Does anyone know if its OK to drink fizzy water, or should I stick to the stuff from the tap?
Its soo hard to stop drinking diet coke but i have been off it a month now and my weight loss has been so much better, it bloats you and supposedly retains fat!!!!! which noone of us want!! i was having about 4/5 cans a day and that was €5 a day going out of my pocket, also when in shop i was buy other food to nibble on!! diet coke is defo addictive!!

first week will be hard but after awhile you wont even notice it!!
best of luck and lent will help you resist it!!

I would always eat something before exercising. Even if it's just a banana and a glass of water. The muscles need some fuel before you go torturing them!!

I love walking on Mt Leinster, especially the 2 looped walks, the scenery is just fantastic, not to mention the fresh air!

I don't drink as much as you did - usually 2/3 cans a day, but I agree it is so addictive. I live in the North so it's not as expensive here - I usually get 12 cans for about £3 as it's always on offer somewhere. Can't believe it is so dear with you. Going to enjoy a few cans today, but tomorrow it will be pints of water instead. And if it speeds up my weightloss, all the better - we'll know at my weigh in next Tues morning.

Just back from WI & I was down 1lb. I definitely ate more this week - dipped into my weeklies by 22 (I sometimes don't touch them, but always eat my dailies) & this seems to have increased by weightloss. Just hoping now that giving up the diet coke & substituting it for water will increase it again for next week.

Good luck anyone with a WI today. My class was the smallest it has been since the beginning of the year (probably about 70 instead of 100 there) so maybe this is the time of year that people start to fall away - I know I did last year! Let's make sure we stick with it. Think of the summer & all the light clothes & no more baggy cardigans.

the position I'm in is that I HATE the taste of Diet Coke, and used to drink ltrs of normal coke, now I point a 330mls glass 4/5 out of 7 days with my dinner, but I'll be cutting this out all together as I think my losses could be better and it would be 4pts more in meat or rice or pasta or ....

I wouldn't think it's a good idea to exercise on an empty stomach...if your blood sugars drop you could faint. This would probably be more relevant for the morning time, when you've been fasting for 7 or 8 hours because you've been asleep.
Thanks for the spreadsheets by the way....looking forwarding to printing them off and adding them to my growing file of WW recipes :)

I've noticed a huge difference since I started drinking more water. I try drink two litres a day...
    Wk1 i lost 3.5lbs
wk2 i was up 1.5, but I hadn't been well and I'd had a lot of socialising and totm was due
    wk3 was down 3lbs...
Haven't changed what I was eating and for wk 2 and 3 didn't have the energy to exercise.

Totally agree, that we should all stick with it! This is like a 24/7 extension of the class for me, it's great. I've really appreciated all the tips and advice and recipes.

Sleep should be bottled and sold in health shops. It's so important for everything. I've started going to bed earlier now with a view to getting up and going for a walk before work in the next couple of weeks. I've been awake 15 minutes before the alarm goes off every morning for the last week.

Just back from my first WI being back on the old plan and down 1.5lbs :D delighted with that as it's my TOTM and it's only from 4 days because I weighed in a day early and had a bad day on Fri! Feeling much more positive being back on the old plan. My mum said to me last night that she noticed that I was loosing weight again :)

Pancake Tuesday is my favourite 'holiday' so don't think I'll be able to control myself. We only have pancakes this day every year so I'm just going to enjoy it. Already have had 3 small ones!

Well done to anyone else who lost today or yesterday and good luck to the rest of ye!

Delighted for you Eabha. I'd love to know what the difference is that makes the old plan work for you.
My sis was also struggling with the new plan and was thinking of going to unislim for a change. She's not far off her goal now, and I'd hate to see her throw in the towel and put on all the weight she worked so hard to loose!

    Enjoy your pancakes mrs!

I gave up all soft drinks for lent about 6 years ago, was so looking forward to opening that first can of Diet Coke on Easter Monday, but to my amazement (and now to my delight) I HATED the taste of it. I find them so sickly sweet now. So persevere.....

    Thanks kay, fofany and kildareash.

It's kinda hard to put my finger on what it is exactly. What made me switch was that I lost 20lbs on the old plan before Christmas so I know it works for me. I think the old plan is stricter in that you don't have the weeklies. It's so easy to right off a weekend and say oh my weeklies will cover that. But I found when I didn't use my weeklies I struggled to survive on just 29 dailies as they wouldn't cover my 3 main meals and snacks. I'm a fussy eater. I don't eat fish or a lot of veg so I think my meals just fit into the old plan better.

Did your sister lose her weight on the old plan? I know there was a woman in my class that was very close to goal and the leader told her to stay on the old plan. If she did and she's finding propoints hard then maybe suggest to her to go back on the old plan and see how she gets on?

Thanks I'll definitely be going for a long walk later as I'm off college so nothing to do but eat pancakes :D

Delighted to hear you have had a good loss Eabha.
Ive been at a plateau for about the last 4 weeks, even have gone up a pound. Was thinking that propoints isn't suiting me and I might give the old plan a go for a few weeks. Worried that i maybe overdose on the fruit (have about 4-5 pieces per day). I have stuck to the plan religiously this week, dipped into the weekly points a little at the weekend but just by about 10, have done an hours walk on all the work days and did 2 50 min jogs aswell. Still no loss. It's v disheartening :(

I didnt even weigh in last week.as i knew i stuck to plan but lost nothing..it's very disheartening alright when your doing everything right but i'm so close to goal im gonna try stick it out. I find pp would be easier to maintain once i get to goal but i know of a few people who stayed on discover as they were so close to goal that they didnt want to hinder it;) so if all comes to all i'll go back to discover:(
